EMPOWERING BLACK GIRLS
IT’S OUR BIRTHDAY!!!!
March 1st, 2018 is the day Curly Me! was considered a 501 c3. Curly Me! started as a thought and by faith became what families and community members get to experience quarterly.
Throughout the month of March, our Founder and Executive Director will be recalling some of what it took to get to year 5. We plan to bring in some folks that were there in the beginning to travel down memory lane, too. Follow us on IG and FB to celebrate with us.
Where are our dance girls at?

Let’s Recap Curly Me!’s Black History Month 2023
CTWWH, All Girls Matter Conference, All-Star Weekend, and Taste of the Culture
Change the World with Her (CTWWH) was amazing! We welcomed over 160 kids, parents, panelist, presenters, and vendors. Our volunteers were so accommodating to our families and this continues to be a favorite in the Curly communities.
Thank you to our host location, The Community Opportunity Center in South Salt Lake and Discover.
The All Girls Matter Conference presented by America’s Big Sister’s was a hit for the valley during the All-Star Weekend! Our girls left full! From the time the girls arrived till it was time to go home, they were the only ones that mattered. The encouraging pouring of information from the panelists, to the presenters, to the vendors allowed them to be seen and expand their minds!
Future of Flight with Izzy Academy gave our girls everything Curly Me! stands for- to Educate, Empower, and Encourage Black girls. Almost 30 girls and their parents were picked up in chartered buses, received Jordan gear (down to the socks) to suit up in and were driven down to a transformed warehouse to have a once in a lifetime experience. Our girls were able to have a V.I.P. experience at the Jordan Parlor 23 pop up. Not only did they get new Jordan sneakers, but also were able to sit down with women designers from across the country to be affirmed and design their own sweatshirts! Before it was all over, they were able to meet and go through a basketball clinic with trainers and Izzy Harrison, the forward of the Chicago Sky.
All-Star Weekend was such a memorable time for the organization and our families.
Lastly, Curly Me! was given a chance to table and speak at the Intermountain General Baptist Convention to celebrate Black History Month. From the resource tables, to the delicious food to the workshop conversations given we enjoyed seeing old families and meeting new ones.
