EVENTS at CurlyMe!
Our events are quarterly invitations where a Curly Me! girl, their families, and the community can meet, gain resources, and have fun together.
First Saturday in February
Change the World with Her
Change the World With Her is a career fair that exposes Black children and the community, to different careers. At this event we want to show youth that there is so much possibility when it comes to their career and that there are a variety of people who look like them doing a variety of careers. We welcome children 5 and older to attend this event with their parents. And, we have seen the exchange between parents and representative facilitators build community, and even provide them with networking opportunities!
Q1 - April
A Day of Flow
A Day of Flow is a collaborative event put together by the Black Physicians of Utah (BPOU) and Curly Me! to help educate and make girls, individuals that menstruate, and families aware of Menstrual Hygiene Management.

High Tea With a Twist
High Tea With a Twist is an event where families get dressed up in their best summer tea attire and have a beautiful tea event with Curly Me!. At this event the girls and their families get to dine and do activities at a local mansion in the Downtown SLC area. This event is made to remind girls they are beautiful from their curls to their glasses to their choice of clothing!
Weekend after labor day - September
Curls with a Purpose Fashion Show
Curls with a Purpose is an event that puts black kids front and center to allow them to strut their stuff. This event happens around the beginning of the school year, so the kids get to show off their best back to school fit. This event is open to all black boys and girls in the community.
October
HBCU Discussion
Our HBCU discussion allows all kids and teens in the community to show that there are other university and college options outside of Utah institutions. We invite a diverse group of HBCU (historically black college and universities) students and alumni to be a part of a panel to answer questions that kids and teens have about pursuing higher education. We understand that HBCUs can be a choice for everyone and want to be able to provide a space where pre-teens and teens have a chance to begin interacting with the topic of colleges and universities.

Volunteer Appreciation
Our Volunteer Appreciation event is a way that we are able to show appreciation for all of our volunteers, parents, and donors. We wouldn’t be able to do this work without our volunteers, so we want them to know how much they mean to us and our community. This is an event that the Curly Me! Team and board members host.
