about CURLY ME!

A 501(c)3 resource for families with children of color, specifically black girls between the ages of 5-14 years.

Mother, daughter working on vision board together.

We hold quarterly events and mentoring opportunities to help EDUCATE, EMPOWER and ENCOURAGE girls to be their best selves.

Curly ME! Goals & Aspirations:

EDUCATE

We aim to educate girls on past and current events that have impacted or are impacting our community. Through events like “Change The World With Her” and our mentoring opportunities, we introduce other women and men who affect change in our community. Whether local, national or international, we strive to expose an impartial sense of appreciation and cultural pride in who they are.

EMPOWER

Through each event or program, we want our girls to leave feeling more confident or assured of themselves. We know feeling confident may be hard for some girls, but we are in this for the long haul.

ENCOURAGE

Curly Me! wants the girls to know that we are always rooting for their success! We encourage them to advocate for themselves and what they believe in. By following their passions and purposely working toward their goals, they will go far.

OUR HISTORY

Curly Me! launched in 2015 for two reasons, to help black girls in the community see their inner and outer beauty and sponsor events for them to highlight and showcase them. Curly Me! understands that the world does not highlight Black girls’ beauty as they should.

We also noticed Utah’s black population makes up less than 2% of the entire state; something had to be done for Black girls to see themselves in a more positive and uplifting way.

Curly Me! became and official non-profit in 2018. With the new statues, we continued to provide great events and started planning for programs. In 2019 we started our first program, Curly Me!'s Book Club. In 2022, we started the BRAID'd (Being Real and Incredibly Determined) program. Both programs were created for our tween/teens.
